Our Data Sources
Credible, transparent, and government-backed
Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)
The gold standard for U.S. salary data. We use Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) covering 800+ occupations across all 50 states and metropolitan areas.
O*NET OnLine
The U.S. Department of Labor's occupation classification system. We map job titles to standardised occupation codes for precise salary benchmarking.
Real-Time Now-Casting
BLS data has inherent publication lag. Our now-casting models adjust historical figures using CPI inflation data and sector-specific economic indicators to provide current estimates.
Why I Built This
I built TakeHomeCompare after realising how many talented people leave money on the table simply because they lack access to good salary data and negotiation coaching. The information asymmetry between employers and employees is real — and it disproportionately affects those who need help the most.
My goal is straightforward: democratise access to compensation intelligence. The same quality of analysis that executive recruiters and HR consultants use should be available to everyone, whether you’re negotiating your first offer or navigating a severance package.
